Reading is Cool!

Summer Reading Packets- to Encourage Reading at Home this summer

We are again excited to let you know about a Reading Incentive Program we will be offering for all students at LRE this summer. Your child will hear about this summer reading program, and will hopefully come home excited about reading.

We have put this reading packet together to help encourage summer reading. Please help your child this summer by encouraging them to read every day for at least 20 minutes.

There will also be copies available on the LRE Media Center Webpage for you to print out or in the office or Media Center this summer if this packet if needed.  All reading packets will be due back to LRE Media Center by September 3th, 2019 in order to be eligible for PRIZES, yes we said PRIZES!
A special thanks to our PTA for sponsoring this summer reading incentive. Summer Reading Presentation (slides) Students Entering 1-3 Reading Packet Students Entering 4-5 Reading Packet

LRE Media Center Summer Hours-2019

We will have our school library open every other week this summer. Students will be able to check-out books from our LRE library. This is beneficial because students are very comfortable with our library. This program will be open to all LRE students and their siblings.

We encourage parents, grandparents, and sitters to bring their children to the LRE library on these dates:

June 13 Thursday 4-6 pm

June 27 Thursday 4-6 pm

July 11 Thursday 4-6 pm

July 25 Thursday 4-6 pm

August 8 Thursday 4-6 pm

*All books will be due the week of Assessments and Open House at LRE  (August 26-28 2019)

You may drop off books anytime in the office or media center during the summer.

Safety is a major concern for us at LRE so we are asking that students do come with an adult. It may be a parent, neighbor, daycare provider, or relative. There will not be any patrols or parents supervising the outside area.

Other Places to visit this summer:

*Checkout the public library as well as Barnes & Noble (New Location this summer) for reading incentive programs this summer.  We also want to support our Independent bookstore in St. Paul, Red Balloon Bookstore on Grand Avenue; they have worked hard with us over the years as well. All of these establishments have great reading incentive programs for students as well. Most students were told they can double and triple dip a book (ask them what that means)!
